Frequently Asked Questions

Sizing

How do I find my belt size?

Please measure. Don't guess from your pant size. Every belt is cut to the size you choose, so the right number matters. The best way is a soft sewing tape:

1. Put on the pants you'll wear the belt with.

2. Thread a soft sewing tape measure through your belt loops, all the way around, the way a belt sits.

3. Pull it snug, not tight, and note the measurement in inches.

4. That number is your belt size.

No soft tape? You can also run a phone charging cable or a piece of string through your belt loops the same way, mark it, then lay it flat against a ruler or a regular tape measure.

Between sizes? Go up to the next inch. Your belt should fit best on the middle hole. Sizes run from 21" to 45". Please don't measure an old belt. Where a buckle's pin sits can vary by up to 3", so an old belt's length won't match mine. I account for each buckle when I cut your strap. Measure twice: size returns carry a 25% restocking fee, since each belt has already been cut. Not sure? Email rainyleatherco@gmail.com and I'll help you get it right.

What if it doesn't fit?

Too long? Send it back and I'll shorten it for you for free. You cover shipping both ways. Too short? You can return it unworn within 14 days of delivery. Size returns carry a 25% restocking fee once the belt passes inspection, since it has already been cut to your size.

Shipping

When will my order ship?

In-stock pieces ship within 3–5 business days. Custom pieces take up to 2 weeks, sometimes longer, and I'll let you know if so. I pack and ship orders in batches once or twice a week.

Will it arrive by the holidays?

For in-stock pieces, order by December 12 to ship in time for the holidays. For custom work, timing depends on the piece, so email rainyleatherco@gmail.com before you order and I'll let you know.

Can I pick up in Tacoma?

Yes! Choose Local Pickup at checkout and there's no shipping charge. My home shop is in Tacoma, near Tacoma Community College and Titlow Beach. After you order, I'll email you to set up a time and send the address.

Returns and exchanges

What's your return policy?

Unworn items in original condition can be returned or exchanged within 14 days of delivery. You pay return shipping, and for an exchange, the cost to ship the new item. Refunds are issued once I've received and inspected the item, within 2–3 business days. Original shipping isn't refunded. Belts returned for the wrong size carry a 25% restocking fee. Custom orders are final sale.

How do exchanges work?

It depends on what you'd like and whether I still have the same materials, so email rainyleatherco@gmail.com and we'll work it out.

What if something arrives damaged or defective?

Email rainyleatherco@gmail.com within 7 days with photos and I'll make it right.

Do you do repairs?

Not at the moment. But if you need extra holes added to an old standard belt, I can do that for $5 per belt.

Materials

What are these made of?

I use full-grain leather, including Hermann, Wickett & Craig, and Horween Oak English bridle and veg-tanned hides, with solid brass hardware on many pieces. Each listing gives the exact materials.

Are the vintage buckles really vintage?

Yes. I hunt them down one at a time from estate sales, old collections and forgotten drawers. Each one is paired with a strap built to match, and small marks of age are part of the piece.

Custom work and payment

Something sold out. Can you make another?

It depends on the buckle. Vintage buckles are often one of a kind and hard to find again, so keep an eye on the site for new ones. Standard buckles in certain leather colors? Maybe! Email rainyleatherco@gmail.com and ask.

Do you take custom orders?

Often, yes! It depends on how busy the bench is and whether the idea is in my wheelhouse. Send your idea through the Contact page or email rainyleatherco@gmail.com and I'll let you know. Custom orders are final sale.

Can I pay over time?

Yes. Klarna is offered on product pages, with interest-free plans available to eligible buyers.
